The latest update as of June 28, 2025

---

Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals - Norwalk, OH and FCC Tulsa Nitro Nationals - Tulsa, OK

Both events were affected - to varying degrees by weather (i.e. rain) yesterday, with Norwalk losing an hour or two due to the wet stuff. But it was a different story in Tulsa, where heavy rain ' and wind blew through the track just before qualifying started, and washed out the evening's activities. Both tracks started the day with rain, but Tulsa's was much heavier and more persistent, resulting in the cancellation of racing for the weekend. This is now the second postponement of the event and has thrown another monkey wrench into the Funny Car Chaos schedule.

UPDATE:: It's been officially announced that the Tulsa Nitro Nationals will NOT be rescheduled this year and has been dropped from the schedule.

It was a happier story in Norwalk, with racing starting a couple of hours late and good weather in the forecast for the balance of the day. After track drying and prep were completed, the Top Alcohol Dragsters ran their third (final) qualifying session, and the results were impressive. The round started with a rather weak 5.526 bump spot for the 19 cars in attendance, but that changed in a hurry, as the first five pairs going down the track kept lowering the bump spot until it ended with Tom Fox Jr. on the bubble with a much better 5.408 elapsed time.

The final pair of dragster qualifying saw the first 5-teen of the weekend, with Canadian McKenna Bold, in a Randy Meyer car, laying down a very quick 5.180 - 273.83 to jump to the top of the field, seven hundredths ahead of the #2 and #3 qualifiers. Occupying that #3 spot was Shawn Cowie, who fell just short of bettering his 5.258 of Friday, stopping the clocks in this session at 5.275. Two other Canadian cars qualified, both from Manitoba, and both with American drivers, as Greg Hunter (in the Doug Doucette car) posted a 5.245 that elevated him to the #2 spot, while Todd Bruce (in the Cliff Bakx car) couldn't better his Friday best of 5.308, leaving him in the #9 spot going into eliminations.
