In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals - Thursday Qualifying
We've got a batch of photos from Bob Snyder but unfortunately, work obligations are going to prevent us from filling in all the captions until this evening. By then, we'll probably have another batch of photos from today's action, and then we'll be trying to catch up over the weekend. Stay tuned and refresh/reload this page each time you check it out to see the additions.
SUPER STOCK - Qualifying
Who says race cars don't do wheelstands anymore? CHeck out these two '68 Camaros strutting their stuff. On the left, it's Henderson, Nevada's Trey Vetter in his SS/FA, and on the right, it's Wyatt Wagner, all the way from Bonner Springs, Kansas, in a SS/GA.
TOP ALCOHOL DRAGSTER - Qualifying Session #1
(LEFT) Cranking up the volume considerably were the "alcohol" dragsters, with a bunch of injected nitro burners leading the way out of the staging lanes. Making his first national event appearance of the season was Jerry Kumre Jr. who opened his weekend with a 6.741 - 148.41 early shutoff pass. Dropped cylinders were the culprit in the lack of performance.
(RIGHT) Another seldom seen racer - at least lately - was Garrett Bateman, in his second race of the season, and he jumped to the top of the field (after two pairs), with a very good 5.311 - 274.22 pass.
(LEFT) Still having problems getting all the potential out of his car was So-Cal's Eric Chesleigh, who had "dancing pipes" (aka: dead cylinders) all the way down track before stopping the timers at 5.397 - 262.39. It was a decent result, but it most likely won't be good enough to stay in the field when qualifying finishes.
(RIGHT) Taking over the top spot, with a bullet, was nitro neophyte Angelle Sampey in her third national event, bitzing the clocks with a very strong 5.234 - 274.05 to show everyone that she was ready to race.
