The final day of the California Hot Rod Reunion kicked off with the first round of eliminations for Top Fuel. With just nine cars in the pits, only Dusty Green didn't make the cut due to a DQ'd run (due to an oildown) in the second qualifying session on Saturday. Following right after the TF cars was the 2nd round of Nitro Funny Car, and closing the first installment of the PRO show were the ever-popular and unpredictable AA/Fuel Altereds. Despite the publishing of a ladder for the AA/FA's, late word (via Facebook) came from one of the contenstants that they were running a "Chicago Style" show where everyone runs two rounds, then the quickest two cars meet in a final.

Top Fuel E-1 Eliminations

Top qualifier Dan Horan opened proceedings by easily dispatching #8 qualifier Brendan Murry with another big set of numbers, as his 5.652 - 261.78 obliterated Murry's trailing mid 6-second effort. Horan's speed set a new top speed of the meet to punctuate his win. His opponent in the semi-finals was determined quickly as Tyler Hilton in the Lee family "Great Expectations III" stepped up a little from their qualifying 5.889 to a winning 5.875 - 236.80 to send Frank McBee Jr. packing.

The higher qualified cars kept advancing as #2 Bret Williamson ran away former champion Jim Murphy's early shutoff on the top end, turning on the winlight with a solid 5.830 - 250.46 as Murphy faded to a 6-second pass. Closing out the round was the "Champion Speed Shop" Special with Adam Sorokin aboard, as he prevailed in the closest match of the round, coming from behind to take the winlight by only .0014 second over Tyler Hester. Sorokin's charging 5.858 - 250.23 just barely edged Hester's slowing 5.890 - 208.30 effort.
