The latest update as of May 2, 2021

The NHRA put on their third national event of the 2021 season over the weekend, succesfully closing out the 40-year history of the Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals at soon to be demolished Atlanta Dragway. While there were less than full fields in a number of categories (Top Fuel, Funny Car, Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car), the stands were packed for the final time and a great race featured some very close competition.

With our focus on Top Alcohol, over the mainstream fan favourites of the PRO categories, we've got the latest points standings in the chase for the 2021 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series national championships in Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car. They are presented below. Racers are allowed to attend 10 national and 5 regional events, and claim points at 7 national and 3 regional events before their points earning ends. Once racers have reached those maximums, the standings will reflect which events they have waived points for.

These are the latest updated standings, courtesy of NHRA. The next two events for the alky cars occur on the same weekend (May 14-16) with a Central Regional at the Texas Motorplex, and the NGK NTK NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway (Charlotte, NC). The following week sees them racing at the Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals at Houston Raceway Park. Then the season continues with either a regional or national event - or both - almost every week until mid-October.
