With so much bad news floating around these days, much of it pandemic related, let's start with some good news and work our way down the ladder to the bad stuff. The second - of what is now planned to be four - events featuring the Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars on the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series calendar ran last weekend at Boise's Firebird Raceway. Their 49th annual (geez, I've just got to be there next year for the 50th) Nightfire Nationals ran off without a hitch, despite smaller than usual fields, and a serious lack of spectators. However, the performances were first rate, with the quickest 8-car field of nitro Funny Cars ever assembled at Firebird, six Top Fuel cars qualifying in the sub-6-second zone, and a barn burner of a Fuel Altered show.
