NitroFest! Test 'n Tune Day
It's getting near 1:00 am Saturday, and I'm still working on Friday's pics from the test 'n tune day of the Canadian National Open at Mission Raceway. There's no time to put together a report or post more than a few pics, but scroll down the page to see some of the highlights from the first day of action for what should be a truly memorable weekend at Mission. While we're a tad short of the expected/hoped for 32 Funny Cars, we've got over two dozen of the beasts and more could arrive in the morning.
As you'll see lower down on the page, the best performance of the day was turned in by Washington state's Mark Sanders in his "Mr. Explosive" Nova, blasting out a career best 5.83 - 244.56 clocking that was punctuated with a blown engine in the lights. With an oil pan full of aluminum "gravel", Sanders will be working late into the night to be ready for the first qualifying session later today.
Remember to click on the thumbnail images to see the full-size versions. We'll post all the decent pics, with captions and a set of pit and trackside reports later today after we've had a few hours sleep. Stay tuned!
That's it for tonight (this morning, actually). We'll get busy as soon as the morning coffee kicks in and get all the Friday photos and reports posted. Until then, go to sleep!
