We've just received some more pictures from the Konica Winternationals, held at Willowbank Raceway from June 8 - 10. Please note that all these images are copyright by Mike Ashton and may not be reproduced without his express permission.

This first pair of pics is the start of my burnout on Saturday afternoon, in the second round of qualifying.

Here's another pic of the burnout and one of me backing up prior to the run.

Left: Here's the car launching enroute to a 6.33 - 210 mph pass, which proved good enough to qualify, in the # 8 position.
Right: This is a pic taken of the car launching on Friday night in the first qualifying session. Since I overstaged the car, and hesitated when the lights turned green, a possible 6.20 pass came up as 7.34 - 174 mph on the scoreboards.

Stu Bond and Bob Wilson at the Winternationals Stu Bond and Bob Wilson at the Winternationals Stu Bond and Bob Wilson at the Winternationals

Here's the infamous driver (the old guy in the black jacket) being interviewed on the starting line Sunday night by a not-quite-so-old guy (Stu Bond in the blue jacket). It's been a long time since I've done any public speaking, but Stu did a great job of carrying me and we made it through unscathed.

That's all we've got time for tonight; a long hot day at work took all the energy out of me and I just plain punked out on Sunday evening and never got close to getting anything useful accomplished on the website. Additionally, the very tragic news out of Spokane took whatever wind was left out of my sails.

Tomorrow's another day though; the sun will rise as always and we'll just try to remember how lucky we are to be able to be here for another day. Life is a gift; try to enjoy it as much as possible and never forget that the giver may take it back at any time.
