More results from "downunder", as the Nightfire Championships were run at Willowbank Raceway in Queensland, Australia on Saturday night. Top Alcohol was the feature, but due to no-shows and breakage, the normally stout competition quickly boiled down to a Gary Phillips and Steven Reed final. This must have been about the thousandth time these two have faced off in the final of a major Australian drag race. And as usual, Phillips found the finish line first, in the process clinching his sixth (and fourth consecutive!) Australian Top Alcohol Championship. Good on ya' Klappa! The big local news is the long-awaited return of the Horsepower Heaven web site. Larry Pfister has invested heavily in new equipment and software to produce an absolute gem of a site, well worth visiting on a regular basis. The almost instant results and photos from Mission Raceway Park, combined with his journalistic skills and encyclopedic knowledge of drag racing make this site a winner in all respects. It definitely rates many notches above my humble little home-made effort.
