The latest update as of September 17, 2010

"Another (not quite so) busy weekend of drag racing"

With two events on tap for the NHRA this weekend: The O'Reilly Auto Parts Nationals in Charlotte, NC and the Cajun Challenge (a Division 4 Lucas Series race) at Belle Rose, LA, there's likely to be some changes in the points standings for the Top Alcohol classes. Only three funny cars and four dragsters are on the pre-entry lists for Charlotte and the attendees at No Problem Raceway (Belle Rose) are unknown at this time. Once the results of the first qualifying sessions come in from Drag Race Central later today then we'll have a clearer picture of who's where, why, and what it potentially means to the points standings.

We'll update the championship points table below (scroll down the page a bit) on Sunday evening, after the events conclude and on Monday we'll present an updated commentary on what implications the weekend's results have on the title fight(s). Stay tuned: it should be interesting, and with only four national events remaining after this weekend, and just five Lucas series (divisional) races to contest, the competition can only get more intense in that stretch run.
