One more day at the Calgary Father's Day Funny Car Classic weekend

It's another beautiful sunny morning here in Calgary, and perfect for the final day of our weekend trip to Race City's Funny Car Classic. We're expecting a larger crowd at the track today, and expecting to see even better performances than yesterday, but we're finding out that the show means more to the fans than the numbers on the scoreboard.

One of the highlights, actually two of them, were the cackle show by Gordie Bonin with a recreation of the junior fueller he drove in the early 70's before graduating to nitro funny cars. The other hit was the simultaneous fireup of the assembled blown alky funny cars in their pit area, all lined up beside each other. Both shows were a big hit with the fans.

The on-track entertainment was just as good, with the funny car folks putting on a great show, and receiving enthusiastic cheers from the fans. Really well presented, and they went over very well. Today should be just as good, and the Bonin and Fjallman crew promise at least one more fireup and possibly, just possibly, a burnout thrown in for good measure.

I should be heading for the track already, so I'll close off this quick update, add a few more captions to the Saturday photo page (the Saturday report is already written), then head for Race City. If you can't be there, or be at the Mission Raceway Pro Mod show, just enjoy the day as we finally head into summer. Later.
